BTU Calculator
Estimate the cooling capacity (BTU) needed for a room.
Room Details
What is BTU?
BTU stands for British Thermal Unit. It's a unit of heat energy, and in the context of air conditioning, it measures the amount of heat an AC unit can remove from a room per hour. Choosing the right BTU size is crucial for efficient cooling. Too small, and the AC will run constantly without cooling the room. Too large, and it will cool too quickly without removing humidity, leading to a clammy feeling.
How It's Calculated
This calculator uses a standard formula that starts with the room's square footage and then adjusts based on factors like sun exposure, occupancy, and whether the room is a kitchen (which generates extra heat).
